Project Description
I’ve tried dozens of bookmark managers over the years. Some are too simple, others are bloated with features I don’t need, and the good ones cost more than I’m willing to pay for bookmark management.
BookMind is my solution: a custom bookmark system that does exactly what I need, the way I want it. The key differentiator is AI integration that makes finding saved content actually useful.
The Problem
Traditional bookmark managers fail in one crucial way: you need to remember what you saved to find it. Keywords only work when you recall the exact terms used in the original content.
BookMind solves this through:
- AI-generated summaries: Every bookmark gets an automatic summary
- Semantic search: Find bookmarks by meaning, not just keywords
- Smart organization: AI suggests categories and tags
Key Features
Intelligent Bookmarking
When you save a URL, BookMind:
- Extracts metadata (title, description, images)
- Generates an AI summary using Llama 3.1 70B
- Suggests relevant categories and tags
- Stores everything for semantic search
Semantic Search
Instead of keyword matching, search by concept:
- Query: “that article about CSS grid layouts”
- Finds: A bookmark titled “Modern Layout Techniques” that discusses grid
Organization
- Categories: Hierarchical organization
- Collections: Group related bookmarks
- Tags: Cross-cutting labels with AI suggestions
User Experience
- Multi-language: English and Spanish
- Themes: Dark and light mode with system preference detection
- Responsive: Mobile-first design for all devices
